A letter dated December 21, 1862 written by Anna Nichols to her husband Ezra, who was then away serving with the 8th Minnesota Regiment during the Civil War. Anna and Ezra lived and farmed near Morristown, Minnesota, but this letter was sent from Summit Township, near Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where Anna and the couple's young son Eugene were spending time with family members. The letter discusses family and friends and the deaths of several area children from illness.
